JIM OLANDER

I was born and raised in Tucson Arizona, which I am proud to still call home. It's like the old shoe that just fits. I was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies out of high school. Continuing to follow my passion, I have been able to live and work in the baseball world most of my entire adult life. After making it to the Major Leagues I had to pivot when injuries and age slowed me down on the field. In 1996 I became a Major League Scout for the Detroit Tigers and I am proud to say I have been a part of professional baseball for 44 years. 

Now I am making another dream come true by helping people. My parents were fabulous mentors and a great example of how hard work can bring success.  In 1951 they moved from Chicago to Tucson. My folks had a business in Chicago that they transferred to Tucson necessitating Dad to travel frequently between Illinois and Arizona while Mom raised kids and oversaw business details until the transition was complete. They always worked hard and as a team.

In 1952, as part of planning our family’s future, Mom and Dad invested in some property that way “way out in the boonies. That outlying land was Speedway and Columbus!!  Planning and resilience paid off and a third generation of our family still runs a business at that location. Olander's Speedway Glass. 

I have always been interested in the health industry and thanks to a good friend. I have found my niche as a Medicare agent.
