An advantage plan is an HMO & PPO plan that uses doctors within network. This saves you money and most plans have low or no premium payment. They also have low MOOP (maximum out of pocket) limits that protect you in case of a catastrophic event. Advantage plans also offer many ancillary products such as free gym membership, dental, hearing and eye coverage. If you want a low cost plan that offers a lot, this is a great option
Supplement Plans
Medigap plans are a good plan if you want to see any doctor that bills for Medicare. In other words, you don't need to be in a network or have referrals. However, these plans come with a premium that typically go up around 5% each year. In addition, you don't have a lot of the ancillary benefits that an advantage plan has. If you travel a lot or don't mind a higher premium, this may be a good fit for you.
Prescription Drug Plans (PDP)
PDP plans are added to your original or traditional Medicare. When you first get A & B, you will need a part D or prescription drug plan. These plans come with a deductible and are added to traditional Medicare. Advantage plans have part D included with no deductibles. Whereas supplement plans add part D with the deductible.
